Canopy’s Hot Button Ranking and Report is the primary fibre sourcing analysis tool for the fashion sector that focuses on forests. This includes the CanopyStyle brands, retailers, and designers that are committed to eliminating the use of Ancient and Endangered Forests in viscose and other cellulosic fabrics, and to giving preference to textiles made from innovative fibres.
The impetus to create new, innovative fibres – or Next Generation Solutions – that utilize alternative fibre to produce new fabrics, is similarly growing. Progress in the Hot Button Ranking is also highlighted in the written profiles of each producer. Here we can see that some producers are making significant efforts to forward conservation solutions by engaging in the often-lengthy negotiations processes that lead to legislated protection. In some cases, producers are engaging directly with key decision-makers and stakeholders, such as government officials, resource-extraction companies, and local communities whose lives depend on their forests to survive.
